Internship Description
The Office of Performance Management at Clayton County seeks a motivated intern ready to start a rewarding and challenging public service career. The Clayton County intern(s) will work under the direction of their assigned department supervisor and the Chief Operations Officer. The intern will play a leading role in coordinating, facilitating, and managing strategic planning projects that require the involvement of multiple county departments. They will be given the opportunity to interact with department heads, attend high-level meetings, and be exposed to the responsibilities of each department and current county issues.
The intern will meet with the appropriate designee monthly to review monthly progress and discuss potential new projects and will be given an opportunity to provide feedback on the value of the experience they are receiving. The intern will also perform tasks and daily activities supporting their assigned department and the Office of Performance Management. The intern’s interests and goals will be considered for special projects.
Graduate Intern Duties and Responsibilities (these examples do not include all the tasks that the intern may be expected to perform):
• Develop and enhance department operations performance data systems
• Provide research and analysis in support of the county’s Envisio system
• Conduct performance audits and training to departments as requested
• Research departmental and/or organizational issues
• Assist departments with developing and revising departmental policies and/or SOP
• Assist departments with grants management from research to writing of the grant
• Draft reports detailing research
• Make recommendations to assigned supervisor and/or county management
• Manage special projects
• Support assigned department with creating strategic plans to support the County’s Strategic plan
• Attend meetings
• Communicate with community organizations and the public
• Assist in the budgeting process.
Requirements
• Enrolled in an MPA or a similar Master’s degree program
• Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
• Must be willing to commit up to 15 hours per week
• Experience with Microsoft Office
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills

Internship Description
The Office of Performance Management at Clayton County seeks a motivated intern ready to start a rewarding and challenging public service career. The internship program is recognized for training excellent leaders in local government. This program allows selected participants to observe firsthand the efforts of the county government working on a wide array of areas and issues. Successful participants have completed the program and accelerated into senior-level management positions within the county.
The current recruitment is open to talented individuals enrolled in undergraduate programs. We are open to working with the university to provide course credit(s) following the completion of the internship program.
Undergraduate Intern Duties and Responsibilities

The faculty member will collaborate and help lead multiple large interdisciplinary research teams who are studying this problem. Northern Arizona University in beautiful Flagstaff, Arizona seeks a Data Scientist (Senior) to lead research on North American supply chains and critical infrastructures, and in particular on the use of open-source data fusion techniques to map and model those systems. The work involves data science, modeling, supply chain analysis, and related software workflow development and quantitative analysis in support of the FEWSION project, a large interdisciplinary team leading data science research for strategic supply chains and related policy. Analyzes, stores, and manages research data, including statistical analysis, informatics, and software design. Leads the obtainment, organization, analysis, and transformation of data into findings through statistical data analysis. Utilizes computer and data science concepts, computational research, and development principles to contribute to research objectives. Serves as a lead presenter of data through the use of visual representations to members of a team, including non-technology professionals. Minimum qualifications include a M.S. in Computer Science, Civil Engineering, Economics, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field, along with at least 4 years of relevant experience (including additional graduate training). Preferred qualifications include a Ph.D. and demonstrated excellence in data analysis, programming, visualization, and scientific writing and communication, in addition to specific experience analyzing supply chain and critical infrastructure data.
